Thoughts On Koeman's Appointment And Alleged Transfer Policy

Koeman has been appointed as the next F.C. Barcelona following the sack of Quique Setien.

There have been promises from the board of changes. And there are some changes made. But, are they good enough ? Let's see.

The Appointment of Koeman-

I think Koeman is a good coach. He has turned Netherlands into giants again and he can dothe same to Barca, provided he is given support of the club. His playing philosophy is clear and evident in the Netherland's national team and I would like to see that implemented to Barcelona, the team revolving around young talents and constant passing. This all perfectly compliments Barcelona. This could well be a good appointment, but it may be bad too. Like Setien, he has been accused of having no plan B and being passive during games. This can hurt Barcelona.

The sacking of Eric Abidal-

Not necessarily something I was begging, but I heard a lot of stuff regarding Abidal and that he was not good enough. I surfed it up and found out sporting Director takes care of the hirings, of contracts, of the day to day functioning of the club. Well, that has gone wrong hasn't it ? So yeah, definitely something we could appreciate. But all of this is just a trailer to what we want to see. We want Bartomeu gone. As simple as that. He has stagnated this club with too much business, we cannot let that happen anymore.

The Rumours-

1. Incoming-

A. Donny Van De Beek-

Koeman has reportedly announced his first transfer request in the form of Van De Beek, a versatile midfielder at Ajax. He is technically good, has a good work ethic, can press high, reliable with the ball. All qualities that a Barca connection has. This might be a good signing based on what happens to Coutinho. We already have too many midfielders. De Jong, Puig, Alena, Monchu, then Coutinho and Van De Beek... not a particularly wise choice.

B. Philippe Coutinho-

The situation on Coutinho maybe clear, Koeman wants Coutinho to stay too. Does he want a 5 man midfield ?

2. Outgoing-

A. Gerrard Pique-

I am not saying he should, or will go. I passed on the rumor. According to me, Pique could stay for a season to train Araujo, Lenglet and possibly Garcia.

B. Sergio Busquets-

Again, I do not confirm this. I guess this is the season for him to depart with dignity. He has had a great career, and no Cule will want to see him hated while he leaves.

C. Luis Suarez-

Luis Suarez does not have many seasons ahead of him, and it makes sense to let him go and let Messi play as a false nine, with Dembele and Fati coming in from wide areas. This could well happen. And then, Maia is ready to take over !

Predictions for UEL final-

UEL- This is very hard. Both teams could win it. If Inter's attack clicks, Inter can win. If Sevilla's midfield and attack can communicate with a bit of finishing, they could win it. Based on what we saw, I would back Sevilla to win it, 3-2 AET.

Barca: A season to forget- Left Wing/ Midfielder

THE PLAYERS- I am not considering Coutinho and Griezmann Left Wingers. 1. Ansu Fati- An  astoundingly ridiculous revelation this season, Ansu Fati will surely be a major part any success we are * hoping * for. His speed and aggressiveness is always channeled and timed well. He can create something out of very little. This is the quality we were craving for, and we have got it in the form of Ansu.  2. Pedri- I know, he is not a first team member just yet, but that is not to say he won't recieve first time action. I think when Ansu needs rest, Pedri should get some starts against less physical sides like Villarreal. Conclusion- After two seasons after Neymar left, we finally have two very good wingers on both flanks. This is definitely good !

Barca: A season to forget- What needs to change ?

What needs to change, in order to win the champions league this August ? So, I can'y really talk about mentality because I am not aware of the happenings in the dressing room, so, let's talk about tactics. Formations and player roles.  TYPE 1- 4-1-2-1-2 narrow Goalkeeper- Ter Stegen two center backs- Pique and Lenglet/ Pique and Araujo Right back- Semedo Left back- Jordi Alba Holding Midfielder- Sergio Busquets Two Central Midfielders- Riqui Puig and Vidal/De Jong /Rakitic Attacking Midfielder- Messi Two strikers- Suarez and Griezmann/ Fati ( He can definitely play there)               This formation was used in the last five games of league and it was evident that it worked fine only when the opposition was not ultra defensive. Napoli, sadly, is ultra defensive. In this formation, the defence has usual work. In the midfield, Busquets has to stay deep and think attacking. He needs to put ball forward after intercepting passes or gettiing ball...

Barca-1 : RMA -3

Of Course it's the match review.  Look, we played well. If that calms you down, it should not. We need to win to show for it. No matter how many chances are created, until they are put away. Real Madrid were, by far the second best side today. But, they won. Maybe that's because of the VAR decision, but we need to understand that we should have been at least 3-1 up at that point. There's no excuse for that kind of finishing, in an El Clasico, the PREMIER FOOTBALLING SHOWCASE. At least it used to be. Now, there were some things more alarming, and some good ones, but as has been the case this season, finishing remains to be sharp. So, what are the even more negative things ? 1. Busquets. Yeah. I said it before, I will say it again, De Jong and Busquets can't play together. They do not complement each other. For details, click  here  . 2. The day Koeman was appointed, I had one, singular doubt about him. his passiveness. That is what we saw today. Yes, starting Pedri a...
