Some Random Thoughts Of Mine

 The UCL Final-

So, here we are, more than a year after the official start of the season, the 2019-20 season has come to an end. Bayern are the latest treble winners and certainly the most dominant side in world football. What happened yesterday though ? The first half was nice to see, both sides attacking and Paris, in my not so humble opinion, being the better side for majority of the first 45. I have got to applaud Manuel Neuer here. That man is the reason Bayern are not crying over bad first half performance. Any other goalkeeper there, on a day other than their extraordinaire, would have conceded at least two goals. And that Mbappe shot ? Oh no.

Neymar was BRILLIANT for the first hour. He pressed like an animal. A total beast. The thing I was worried of, was that neither Di Maria nor Mbappe were helping him. No output from either of them, making grave errors. It was most certainly visible when we saw Neymar being toyed by the Bayern side, a pass and again and again. He must have hated to be part of such a team. In the second half, no one except the defenders were good enough for Paris. I do not think Mbappe has had a worse night than this, even though I do not like him particularly, and you have got to admit, Croatia in world cup is different to prime Bayern in Champion's league.

In the second half though, things flipped. Bayern turned on the style and then you can just watch wow. Kimmich's floated cross found Coman's head and the ball settled into the far right corner. This happened in the 60th minute. Of Course a team of Paris' calibre could score one goal from there ? No, they switched off. And the thin that I found out to be the most disturbing to me was that they lacked stamina miserably. They could not even hold on to the ball in last half an hour. That's a disgrace. Professional footballers lacking enough stamina to play out 90 minutes ? Teams used to play 120 minutes at full swing and come up with comebacks. This cannot be acceptable at such a level. Maybe they are tired after a long season, or it's just Tuchel carrying out light work in the training.. I do not know, but this needs to be fixed.

All in all, it was perhaps a deserved victory for the Bavarians, with my MOTM being Manuel Neuer.

The Messi Situation-

So, I have been hiding away from writing this bit, but it is getting more and more serious every season. And more so this season. Particularly after the.. Yeah, that. So, let's clear it out once and for all. This is the most 'reliable' rumors I could find -

  • Messi is furious and wants changes at all levels, most importantly at the presidential level.
  • Messi, right now, feels more outside than inside the club, if that means anything new.
  • Bartomeu has reportedly seen this as a chance to down Messi and make others believe, Messi does not love the club.... He wants to leave... while dodging the allegations, as always.
  • Also, he sees this as an opportunity to reduce the wage bill by offloading Messi (Surely this isn't true )
  • He wants to make sure he does not have to resign.
  • Messi, on the other side has his idea clear, he wants 2 things, a believable project and of course, Bartomeu to leave, otherwise, as Tuchel said, who wouldn't want Messi in their team ?
That's it then.

My Top Ten: Total Fiction- Three

No. 3. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn Series by Mark Twain          The great American novels. The novels, set in and 'round Mississippi river, and the state of course, for all but one novel, are a jewel to read. They are humorous, rich and enjoyable. Truly one of the greatest American novels.          Plot- A painstakingly simple plot for each novel, woven around a million subplots, adding humor and there you have it. But, it is not that easy. To find the right subplot, to find the best position to add humor, even to decide on jokes, is hard. It's not that easy to satisfy neysayers and these novels have done just that.          Characters- I wasn't born in the U.S.A. and I do not know how the kids there are. But, if their lif can be this adventurous, count me in ! Mark Twain creates a bond so tight that I must believe whatever he writes. Tom steals a hot air balloon, of course he can do that.    ...

Barca: A season to forget- Left Wing/ Midfielder

THE PLAYERS- I am not considering Coutinho and Griezmann Left Wingers. 1. Ansu Fati- An  astoundingly ridiculous revelation this season, Ansu Fati will surely be a major part any success we are * hoping * for. His speed and aggressiveness is always channeled and timed well. He can create something out of very little. This is the quality we were craving for, and we have got it in the form of Ansu.  2. Pedri- I know, he is not a first team member just yet, but that is not to say he won't recieve first time action. I think when Ansu needs rest, Pedri should get some starts against less physical sides like Villarreal. Conclusion- After two seasons after Neymar left, we finally have two very good wingers on both flanks. This is definitely good !

My Top Ten: Total Fiction- Four

No. 4. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.  Yeah, it is not in my top three. I am disappointed too, but I can assure you, I like this book very much, it is just that I like three books more. It is Paulo Coelho's best work by far and understandably. According to him, it is based on Wisdom. It is more about dreams and how to chase them. Plot- A boy has had a dream, there is a treasure below the pyramids in Egypt and he sets off to find it. Oh, how simple that seems and yet I have barely seen a novel more difficult to get the true essence. His journey is filled with extra-ordinary coincidences and incidents, making the journey adventurous and also giving a scope for some wisdom to be shared. A book like no other, This is the first book I'd recommend to instill a reading habit.  Characters- Santiago....Melchizedek....the alchemist....the shopkeeper.... all of these characters have a separate soul. A person we could identify, not one we could relate with the author in any way. This is a...
