The Balon D'Or has been cancelled for the first time in it's history.
There have been many great players who have been awarded this prestigious award. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, Cannavaro among others. There has been a sense of beauty in many players who have won it. Many players, coaches, pundits and others think Lewandowski would have won it this year, should it have been awarded. But, if one thinks of it, when was the last time a traditional number nine won the award? Lewndowski is a great player, but is he the kind of player who wins balon d'ors ? Not in my opinion. The strikers who won it had a certain flair and beauty in their game. While Lewndowski has scored for fun, he has not been beautiful to watch. I would rather see Muller and Kimmich than Lewa to be honest, and that's the thing. Are we going to award the award for best player to the best goalscorer ? He is surrounded by Muller who has exceeded De Bryune's statistics, Kimmich, who is probably the most talented holding midfielder along with De Jong, one of the best wingers on the planet in Serge Gnabry. Furthermore, Lewandowski does not possess the dribbling or passing prowess that is usually associated with attractive football.
If there's one thing common among the balon d'or winners, it is their ability to entertain and win matches on their own. I haven't seen Lewandowski do that, have you ? I haw a singular match, against Paderborn, where he won a match on his own. This is not enough. I am in complete disagreement with those who believe naively, that Lewandowski is the best player in the world. So, naturally, the next question will be, who is ? There are many different perspectives. In purely individual footballing terms, Lionel Messi takes my vote, all day long. Cristiano is a different type of player, and those with that taste, Ronaldo is a front runner in that type. There are some people though who love to drag team achievement into this mix. Barcelona endured a trophy less season, Juventus *only* won a serie A, Man City endured a trophy less season (Don't yell a Community shield in my face) So, that leaves us with Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Ramos, Thomas Muller, Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Neymar and Mbappe.
UCL Final Prediction-
Bayern Munich V/S Paris SG
Everybody's saying they've scored for fun all season, it's gonna be a goalfest, we are gonna see a ten goal thriller.... So, it is only natural of me to say no more than four goals will be scored. A three-one win for Paris will seal a much awaited treble for Paris Saint Germain. Wait a week and call me a fool.
