Barca: A season to forget- Key differences between Barca and Bayern

 Bayern have been the best team in Europe this season and play a very similar style to Barcelona. So, we can analyse where have we gone wrong. 
1. Interceptions-
            This type of play requires players to be athletic and high pressing. And Barca is constantly criticized for being too lazy. But, in reality the difference is not huge. Bayern average 10 interceptions every ninety minutes, while Barca is at 9.5. While in La liga it is low (9), it is even higher than Bayern in Champion's league, with 12.3, compared to 10.1 from Bayern. Also, dropping intensity is not a problem, In the last half an hour, Barca has much higher pressing. With 9.9 compared to 9.7 of Bayern.
The main problem here is starting slow, we know many instances when Barca gave away an early goal. That is highlighted. With 9.1, compared to 9.4 of Bayern. #startstrong

2. Posession loss- In this statistic too, Barcelona is marginally behind in some and even ahead in some statistics. Barca is dispossessed 9.4 times every 90 minutes on average. While Bayern sit on 8.9, it's not a humongous difference. Infact, Bayern have had more unsuccessful touches than Barcelona. This pattern continues for the last 30 minutes, while Barca is triumphant in the first fifteen minutes. The time in middle, however is completely different, Barca is far too behind. So, we need to keep the tempo alive in the middle minutes. #finishthework

3. Passing- Surprisingly, Barca is by far the better sid in number of passes, accurate passes, short passes, accurate long passes. Not really surprising, because it tells only half part of the story. We know Barca can pass, but attacking passes, key passes is where we lack. We are behind by a huge number in the number of key passes. Bayern are with around 15 and Barca only 10. this is huge. We need to create more to score more, this, according to me, is the biggest flaw. #passgoalwards

4. Shots-
            To score, we need to shoot. And Barcelona players have seriously lacked confidence to shoot this season, they keep looking for Messi and get dispossessed or forced to play backward. This was clear versus Liverpool last year. I don't like reminding this, but you know, sometimes these games hit hard. Bayern have an average of 19 shots per game, compared to Barca's 13. We need to build confidence of players. Griezmann, Vidal and Rakitic can do so much better offensively than they are doing. #shootmoreoften

            So, the thing is, we are playing fairly good, but we need to improve offensively to stand a chance of winning the trophy with the bg ears.

I think when Ansu needs rest, Pedri should get some starts against less physical sides like Villarreal. Conclusion- After two seasons after Neymar left, we finally have two very good wingers on both flanks. This is definitely good !

Barca: A season to forget- What needs to change ?

What needs to change, in order to win the champions league this August ? So, I can'y really talk about mentality because I am not aware of the happenings in the dressing room, so, let's talk about tactics. Formations and player roles.  TYPE 1- 4-1-2-1-2 narrow Goalkeeper- Ter Stegen two center backs- Pique and Lenglet/ Pique and Araujo Right back- Semedo Left back- Jordi Alba Holding Midfielder- Sergio Busquets Two Central Midfielders- Riqui Puig and Vidal/De Jong /Rakitic Attacking Midfielder- Messi Two strikers- Suarez and Griezmann/ Fati ( He can definitely play there)               This formation was used in the last five games of league and it was evident that it worked fine only when the opposition was not ultra defensive. Napoli, sadly, is ultra defensive. In this formation, the defence has usual work. In the midfield, Busquets has to stay deep and think attacking. Barca-1 : RMA -3

 Of Course it's the match review.  Look, we played well. If that calms you down, it should not. We need to win to show for it. No matter how many chances are created, until they are put away. Real Madrid were, by far the second best side today. But, they won. Maybe that's because of the VAR decision, but we need to understand that we should have been at least 3-1 up at that point.
